Prepare for the Upcoming NCTS Phase 5
We’re here to help you prepare for the introduction of New Computerised Transit System Phase 5 (NCTS5) on 1st July 2024.
With the upcoming transition from NCTS4 to NCTS5 in Northern Ireland (NI) and Great Britain (GB) on the 1st July 2024, planned system downtime has been arranged to ensure a smooth changeover. These dates are:
- Friday, 28th June 2024 for NCTS5 in NI (XI)
- Monday, 1st July 2024 for NCTS5 in GB
Some commercial software providers will switch from NCTS4 to NCTS5 on 1st July 2024 to synchronise with these changes and will contact affected clients to confirm this. However, we recommend businesses proactively check with their software provider before 28th June 2024 to avoid any disruptions.
Guidelines for Northern Ireland (XI) Service Users:
Date and time: Friday 28th June 2024, from 9am to 4pm.
Actions required before downtime:
- Discharge all arrivals to prevent delays, as HMRC will manually handle these processes.
- Ensure you have received the release for transit notification for any submitted declarations.
If your software provider delays switching:
- Submit and release all XI declarations for goods moving between 28th June and 1st July 2024 before 9am on 28th June 2024 if you are an authorised consignor.
- Re-plan the movement of goods between 28th June and 1st July 2024 if using the normal procedure.
- Use the web portal to submit declarations following the downtime.
During this period, GB’s NCTS4 service will still be operational for submitting declarations.
Guidelines for Great Britain (GB) Service Users:
Date and time: Monday, 1st July 2024, from 6am to 1pm.
Actions required before downtime:
- Discharge all arrivals where possible to avoid manual processing delays.
- Submit and release all declarations for goods moving on 1st July 2024 if you are an authorized consignor or consignee.
During this period, GB’s NCTS4 service will still be operational for submitting declarations.
